LETHBRIDGE
The Lethbridge and Area Cricket Association is hosting a tournament this weekend at Father Leonard Van Tighem School grounds beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
The LACA is in its first year, but has already established itself by showcasing one of the world’s most popular sports while also promoting education about the culture and rules of cricket. Players in the LACA come from across the planet but have all settled in Canada looking for their cricket fix. Countries such as Sri Lanka, India, Australia, England, South Africa and Pakistan are represented in the club’s ranks.
There will be an inauguration ceremony prior to the first game Saturday and the day will feature four two-hour matches, lasting until approximately 5:15 p.m.
On Sunday, games begin at 10 a.m. and continue with three matches including the final, with presentations after the final.
Everyone is welcome to attend. For more information, go to the Lethbridge and Area Cricket Association’s Faceboook page or email president Diwakar Vyas at diwakarvyas@gmail.com.
