LETHBRIDGE HERALD
A two-out single in the third inning gave the Lethbridge Bulls a 1-0 win over the Okotoks Dawgs on Sunday but also finished off an unbeaten road trip.
The Western Major Baseball League Alberta Division-leading Bulls (14-4) are on a five-game winning streak and they swept a recent swing through Saskatchewan, with a pair of wins over the Yorkton Cardinals and one win over the Melville Millionaires. Another game against the Millionaires was postponed due to weather, with the Bulls in the lead.
On Sunday, a Brandon Bufton single scored Trace Hansen after an error put him on base. That single was enough thanks to Luc Hebert, who went eight innings and allowed just two hits while striking out seven. Hebert hasn’t allowed a run in his last two starts, spanning 15 innings and nine hits allowed.
Lethbridge product Chris Stodolka sewed up the ninth for the save, allowing one hit and getting out in 10 pitches.
Mitch Dornblut and Josh Day each had two hits. The Bulls are in Swift Current today against the Indians and will host the Medicine Hat Mavericks on Friday at Spitz Stadium.
Lethbridge is mere percentage points behind the Saskatchewan Division’s Weyburn Beavers (14-3) for the WMBL lead.
The Bulls are four and a half games ahead of the Mavericks for the division lead.
