After getting handed their first loss at the Canadian Curling Club
Championships, the Nanette Dupont rink has won three in a row.
Dupont and her Lethbridge Curling Club and Alberta representative rink
of third Samantha Davies, second Kendra Nakagama and lead Avice
DeKelver lost 7-5 to Nunavut in the Thursday morning draw at the event
in Leduc, but handed Nova Scotia its first loss of the week in the
evening draw with a 12-3 win.
On Friday, the locals kept rolling, downing Ontario 7-4 in the morning
draw and the Yukon 11-1 in the afternoon.
With the wins, Dupont will play in the semifinals this morning at 9
a.m. against an opponent to be determined.
The bronze and gold medal games are slated for 2 p.m.
On Thursday night against Nova Scotia, Dupont scored three in the
second end for a 3-2 lead and stole one in the fifth, three in the
sixth and four in the seventh.
Against Ontario Friday morning, Ontario held a 2-1 lead after four
ends, but Dupont took the lead for good with two in the fifth and a
steal of two in the sixth for a 5-2 lead. Ontario cut the lead to 5-4
in the seventh, but Dupont added two more in the eighth.
Dupont took five ends to defeat the Yukon in the afternoon draw,
opening a 2-0 lead, notching three in the third and stealing one in
the fourth and five in the fifth end.
