ASDC SW prepares Zone 1 athletes for upcoming Alberta Summer Games

Alberta Sport Development Centre Southwest (ASDC SW) mission is to provide programming aimed at supporting and developing emerging athletes at all levels throughout the region.
Since 2008, ASDC SW has helped athletes in southwest Alberta take the next step in their athletic development. ASDC SW’s vision is to create an environment that advances the success of Zone 1 athletes in provincial, national and international competitions; including Alberta Summer Games.
The Athlete Enhancement Program (AEP) has been the flagship program of ASDC SW, with over 400 athletes taking advantage of the program since the doors opened in 2008. Athletes train twice a week over 10-weeks at the University of Lethbridge High Performance Training Centre, home of Pronghorns Athletics and AEP. The HP Centre coaches lead athletes through training programs designed to improve strength, power, speed and agility. AEP Block 3 training goes March 30th to May 28th, 2020. An overlooked area of athlete training and development deals with the athletes, nutrition, injury prevention and mental focus. ASDC SW offers a full menu of sports science help from our Athlete Enhancement Team (AET). Our AET staff are certified professionals and subject matter experts and have experience working with athletes from all sports, skill levels and ages.
Notable AEP alumni include Olympian Rachel Nicol (swimming), Alberta Winter Games gold medalist Kaleb Muller (speed skating), NCAA and U Sports athlete Kacie Bosch (basketball) and Alberta Winter Games medalist Joel Demaere (wrestling).
Lethbridge Sport Council has provided ASDC SW with a 2012 Games legacy grant to offer athletes selected to represent Zone 1 at the 2020 Alberta Summer Games AEP training at no cost. To see if you qualify for this ASG training offer, visit asdcsw.ca.
