Midget AA Hounds win tourney

The Lethbrige midget AA Hounds were tournament hosts and champions last weekend.

The Hounds downed Notre Dame 6-2 in the gold medal game Sunday afternoon at the ATB Centre to take top spot.

Lethbridge beat the Whitecourt Wolverines 6-3 in the semifinal to set up the gold medal game.

Lethbridge beat Whitecourt 6-0 to start the tournament Friday and followed that Saturday with a 4-3 loss to Fort McMurray.

But the hosts finished the round-robin with a 4-2 win over Notre Dame to meet the Wolverines in the semifinal Sunday morning.

The Hounds return to South Central Alberta Hockey League play this weekend, starting Friday at 7:15 p.m. when they host the Foothills Bisons (3-17-2) at Henderson Arena.

The team heads to Calgary Sunday to face the 5-2-1 CBHA Rangers at 3 p.m.

The Hounds are 7-12-3 and in fourth place in the SCAHL South Conference.
