LETHBRIDGE HERALD – OKOTOKS

The Laura Walker rink of Edmonton was the only undefeated foursome after three days of play at the 2020 Sentinel Storage Alberta Scotties Tournament of Hearts on Friday.

Walker, whose rink includes Lethbridge’s Taylor McDonald at second, improved to 6-0 with a pair of victories Friday, including defeating Lethbridge’s Casey Scheidegger 9-5 in the evening draw.

The roller-coaster competition continued for Scheidegger, who fell to 2-4 with a pair of losses on Friday. Scheidegger, curling with Cary-Anne McTaggart, Jessie Haughian and Kristie Moore, opened the event with a pair of losses only to bounce back with a pair of wins Thursday before falling twice on Friday.

They opened Friday with a tough 7-6 loss to Marla Scherrer of Lacombe, giving up a steal of one in the 10th end.

Kelsey Rocque of Edmonton is second with a 5-1 record while Krysta Hilker of St. Albert is 4-2.

Nicky Kaufman of Lacombe, Kayla Skrlik of Calgary and Sherrer are tied with Scheidegger at 2-4.

Lethbridge’s Jodi Vaughan rink of Jody McNabb, Nicole Larson and Valerie Ekelund are 1-5.

Vaughn opened the day with a 9-2 loss to Rocque before falling 11-5 to Kaufman in the evening draw.

The final round-robin draw goes this morning with Scheidegger in a must-win game against Rocque while Vaughan plays Sherrer.

The third- and fourth-place finishers will play a loser-out game tonight with the winner advancing to Sunday morning’s semifinal against the loser of tonight’s one vs. two semifinal. The winner advances directly to Sunday’s 5 p.m. final.
