With the Alberta Schools Athletic Association Rural Provincial Championships coming up at the end of the month, a small group of Lethbridge Wrestling Association members hit the road for a warmup.
The local junior and senior high members were in Calgary for the 2020 Churchill Classic, bringing home some medals from a skilled field.
Representing LCI, Ryder Lowry struck gold in the junior male category, as did Ethan Boehme in the senior male division.
Tamryn Bly struck silver in the junior female category, while Rawley Selk was a senior male bronze medallist.
Rounding out the LCI contingent, Jada Bester was fourth in the senior female division.
The Chinook High School duo of Blessing Diyaolu and Angelina Ellis-Toddington won gold in the junior and senior female categories, respectively.
Brantley Saar mined gold in senior male and Justin Bennett was fifth in the same category.
Emmy Selk of Senator Joyce Fairbairn won silver in the junior female division and Winston Churchill’s Mackenzie Midgley took fifth in the senior female.
G.S. Lakie’s Max Brewerton was a silver medal winner in the junior male division.
The LWA also has several wrestlers representing Zone 1 in next weekend’s Alberta Winter Games in Airdrie.
The ASAA Rural Provincial Championships will be hosted by LCI Feb. 28-29.
