The University of Lethbridge track and field team has topped the podium as The Two Guys and a Pizza Place Pronghorn Athletes of the Week.
Sandra Latrace has earned the women’s honour, while Clayton Wong gets the nod as the men’s winner.
As they get ready for the Canada West Championships at the end of the month, the Horns had one more practice run as they headed to Edmonton for the Panda Open.
Latrace took top spot in both her events. In the long jump she had the two longest jumps in the competition and won the event with a jump of 6.17 metres, 43 centimetres further than any other entrants.
Latrace is ranked first in U SPORTS in the long jump.
In the 60 metres, Latrace won all three of her races and took the final with a time of 7.50 seconds and moved into fourth place in the U SPORTS rankings.
A fourth-year multiple U SPORTS medallist, Latrace is poised to defend both her Canada West long jump and 60m titles at the Canada West Championship Feb. 21-22 at the University of Saskatchewan.
A third-year jumper, Wong opened with a leap of 13.24m in the triple jump and steadily increased through his next four jumps, peaking with a jump of 13.98 metres to take the top spot.
Heading into the conference meet in two weeks, Wong is ranked fourth among Canada West jumpers in the triple jump and was bumped to eighth in the U SPORTS rankings.
