Blazers double the Canes

The Lethbridge Hurricanes will give up second place in the Western Hockey League Central Division.

The Canes were doubled 6-3 by the Kamloops Blazers in WHL action Friday night in Kamloops to fall to 0-2 on their B.C. road trip.

They also fall to 37-18-2-5 and give up second in the second to the Medicine Hat Tigers (39-19-2-1), who beat the Calgary Hitmen 6-1 Friday.

On Friday, the Hurricanes tied the Blazers twice, but a trio of Kamloops goals in the final 10:25 – two empty-netters – sealed the win.

Trevor Thurston, Oliver Okuliar and Alex Cotton scored for Lethbridge.

Goaltender Carl Tetachuk stopped 33 of 27 shots.

The Hurricanes are in Kelowna tonight to take on the Rockets at 8 p.m., local time.
