The Lethbridge Hurricanes are being sent home, for now.

The Hurricanes announced Sunday that as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and continued travel restrictions, the club has released all players to return home to their families while the season remains suspended.

The Hurricanes, in conjunction with the Canadian Hockey League and Western Hockey League, continue to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and will provide further updates as they are made available.

The Canes were scheduled to host the WHL Central Division-leading Edmonton Oil Kings Friday night at the Enmax Centre before heading to Edmonton Sunday for the rematch.

After that, the Hurricanes had three regular season games left.

They were to host the Swift Current Broncos Wednesday and the Tigers Friday before ending the regular season Saturday in Medicine Hat.
