Even with the coming Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference season hanging in the balance due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Lethbridge College Kodiaks men’s volleyball head coach Greg Gibos has kept busy with his recruiting.

On Tuesday, the Kodiaks announced the commitment from middle/opposite attacker Adam Revet from North Battleford, Sask.

Revet wrapped up his high school volleyball career with the John Paul II Collegiate Crusaders, where he captured several individual awards last season and led the Crusaders to a silver medal performance at 4A provincials.

A dual-sport athlete, Revet also played basketball for the Crusaders.

“I was able to watch several of Adam’s matches at competitions and was impressed with his ability to push and lead his teammates,” said Gibos in a release. “One thing with Adam is he’s a pure athlete. He’s hungry, he’s driven and wants to win. His ability to be positive and lead his teammates in high stress times were the key attributes that really pushed us to make an offer to him to be a Kodiak.

“Even when Adam came to visit us last winter, we could immediately see he’s the type of guy who is going to give his teammates everything he has. He’s dedicated to bettering himself, and he’s the type of athlete who isn’t satisfied with being ordinary.”

Revet represented Saskatchewan at the Canada Cup in Halifax in 2019 and also played on the U18 Team Saskatchewan team.

Once he hits the court, Revet says he is committed to putting in the hard work required to make the transition to post-secondary volleyball.

“I am a very hard worker that will be pushing not only myself, but others as well to be the best that we can be,” he said. “I have always been a leader, and I believe that learning from the current leaders will propel me to fill in their shoes in the future.”

The Kodiaks men’s volleyball program enters next season coming off back-to-back ACAC silver medals and a fourth-place appearance at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association men’s national championship tournament in Fredericton, NB last season.

The ACAC fall volleyball season has been postponed with sights focused on a winter semester start.
