The Lethbridge Hurricanes Western Hockey League schedule is set for March.
After opening their 24-game, Central Division-only season with a pair of losses to the Edmonton Oil Kings last weekend, the Canes return to the ice next weekend with their next three opponents secured.
The Hurricanes will travel to Red Deer to face the Rebels March 12 before hosting Red Deer March 13 at 6 p.m. at the Enmax Centre.
The teams head back to Red Deer March 14 to wrap up the weekend series.
The Calgary Hitmen are next on the slate as the Canes host Calgary March 19 at 7 p.m. at the Enmax Centre before heading to Calgary March 20 for the rematch.
The Hitmen return to the Enmax Centre March 21 at 6 p.m.
Lethbridge wraps up the month with a three-game slate against the Medicine Hat Tigers.
The first game goes March 26 in Medicine Hat and returns to Lethbridge March 27 at 7p.m.
The Hurricanes and Tigers complete the weekend March 28 in Medicine Hat.
A former Hurricane is calling it a career after 15 seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks after defenceman Brent Seabrook announced Friday he is unable to continue playing hockey because of injury.
Seabrook had surgery on his right shoulder as well as both hips and it’s been his right hip that has prevented the 35-year-old from Richmond B.C. from getting back on the ice.
Seabrook – who played for the Hurricanes from 2000 to 2005, won three Stanley Cups with the Blackhawks, scoring 103 goals and 464 points in 1,114 regular season games. He added 20 goals and 39 assists in 123 playoff appearances
Seabrook played 264 games with the Hurricanes, scoring 39 goals and 176 points.
