Some consistent golf landed Paxton Maxwell his second Maple Leaf Junior Tour win.
The 18-year-old from Magrath fired rounds of 70 and 75 for a total of 145 to capture top spot in the Junior Boys division at the MJT Humber College PGM Classic presented by TaylorMade in Banff Wednesday and Thursday.
Maxwell led by one shot after the first day and kept his game steady on his way to his second MJT win over the last two years.
“I would say my driver and irons won me the tournament,” said Maxwell in a statement on the Maple Junior Tour website. “I was hitting lots of fairways and greens and played well through the challenging wind on the second day.”
Spence Matson of Lethbridge finished third with a two-day total 151 (78, 73), while fellow Lethbridge golfer Brennan Tailfeathers was 11th at 160.
In the Bantam Boys division, Lethbridge’s Jackson Wesley shot a pair of 80s to finish at 160 and in a tie for 11th.
In the Juvenile Boys division, Roan Crowe of Claresholm took 17th place (160) and Lethbridge’s Seth Murphy (163) was 19th.
