Kodiaks volleyball signs B.C. prospect

By Lethbridge Herald on July 31, 2021.

The Lethbridge College Kodiaks women’s volleyball team has headed west to land their next recruit.

The Kodiaks announced Friday they had signed Surrey, B.C. native Abby Sinclair in time for the 2021 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference season.

The outside hitter comes to Lethbridge College after graduating from Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary School and the Velocity Volleyball Club system.

With her multi-sport background, Sinclair gives the Kodiaks a weapon on the right side.

“I can’t wait to get Abby in the gym in September,” said Kodiaks head coach Anna Schwark in a release.

“From watching her in-game and practice situations, it is so obvious that her work ethic is top tier. She has a great attitude and carries herself so maturely. She will be able to really challenge and push even the most motivated on our team, so I know she is going to make a big impact right way.”

After a Zoom meeting with Schwark and Kodiaks assistant coach Steve Ivan, Sinclair made her decision to come one province over.

Speaking with a pair of current Kodiaks women’s volleyball team members also helped.

“The coaches connected me with Jamie [Brown] and Mac [Lewicki] too, and they were all really supportive and were really encouraging and welcoming,” said Sinclair.

“It was just an all-around really good experience.”

Sinclair will enroll in Lethbridge College’s Child and Youth Care program this fall.
