Easthope places 22nd at Canadian Mid-Amateur Championship

A trio of southern Alberta golfers have wrapped up three days of play at the Canadian Mid-Amateur Championship this week in Fort McMurray.

Hitting the links at the four-day event which began Tuesday and ran until Friday was Lethbridge’s Ryan O’Donnell and Justin Nagy as well as Cardston’s Melvin Easthope.

Easthope finished the highest of the trio, posting a four-day total of 306 (75, 78, 78, 75) to finish tied for 22nd.

Nagy and O’Donnell finished within one stroke of each other.

Nagy, from Paradise Canyon Golf Resort, shot 85, 75, 88 and 77 for a four-day 325, while O’Donnell of the Lethbridge Country Club carded scores of 82, 83, 78 and 83 for a total of 236.

Charles Fitzsimmons of the St. Thomas Golf & Country Club Ltd. from London, Ont. won this year’s national title with a four-day score of 287.
