Playing in front of a large – as well as loud and stomping – crowd, the Cougars opened a 7-0 lead after the first quarter on their way to a 35-0 lead at halftime before adding another 21 points in the second half.

Leading the way for the Cougars was fullback Derek Trapp, who hit for four touchdowns.

Trapp ran for three majors from 40, 18 and 20 yards and also scored on a punt return from 52 yards out.

Catholic Central quarterback Michael Friesen passed for a pair of touchdowns, hitting Kaeden Knutson for 14 yards and Adam Schaupmeyer for 16 yards.

Lucas Authier ran for a two-yard score, as did Bryson Reis.

SAHSFL play continues tonight as the Cardston Cougars and Chinook Coyotes hit the gridiron tonight at 7 p.m. at the University of Lethbridge Stadium.

In other action Thursday night, the Claresholm Willow Creek Cobras hosted Strathmore in a non-league game. A score wasn’t available at press time.
