The Southern Alberta Interscholastic Administrative Council boys and girls varsity volleyball playoffs begin today.
The boy’s games take place at the Catholic Central West campus, while Magrath High School hosts the girl’s championship.
In Magrath, the girl’s action starts at 5 p.m. as the fifth-ranked Raymond Comets face the fourth-seeded Taber St. Marys Auroras, while the Winston Churchill Griffins (sixth) play the Catholic Central Cougars (third).
At 7 p.m., the Cardston Cougars (seventh) clash with the Magrath Pandas (second). The ninth-ranked Coaldale Kate Andrews Pride faces the top-seeded Chinook Coyotes in the other 7 p.m. game.
The semifinals go Saturday at 11 a.m. with the gold medal game to follow at 3 p.m.
At Catholic Central West the games begin at 4:30 p.m. as the second-seeded Coyotes play seventh-ranked Medicine Hat High School, while the top-ranked Magrath Zeniths play the Winston Churchill Bulldogs, seeded eighth.
At 6:30 p.m., the Cardston Cougars (third) take on the Catholic Central Cougars (fifth) and the LCI Rams (fourth) play the Kate Andrews Pride (fifth).
The semifinals go 10 a.m. and noon Saturday with the gold medal game to follow at 2 p.m.
In Alberta Schools Athletic Association play Friday, the Winston Churchill Bulldogs head to Cochrane for the Tier III quarter-finals at 4 p.m.
