The Lethbridge Hurricanes signed their 2021 17th overall pick Tristen Doyle to a Western Hockey League Standard player Agreement on Thursday.
The Bonnyville product appeared in 33 games this season with the Northern Alberta Xtreme U18 Prep team.
Doyle chipped in three points and two penalty minutes in four post season games.
“This a big day for our organization,” said Peter Anholt, Hurricanes general manager.
“We are thrilled to be able to get Tristen signed and add him to our 2006-born group with (Maguel) Marques and (Trae) Wilkie.”
Doyle scored 42 points this season and ranked him fifth in team scoring for the Xtreme while leading all defenseman in goals and points.
He finished second among defencemen in points and goals in the entire Canadian Sport School Hockey League U18 league, finishing first among 2006-born blueliners.
“We are really proud of how our leadership group has taken their young teammates in and embraced them and to help push them to be better and how they continually show what it is to be a Hurricanes,” said Anholt.
“We are excited to add Tristen along with Marques, (Nolan) Chadwick and (Brady) Smith to the our group.
Doyle has joined the team for the remainder for the season and expected to make his debut this weekend.
