U14 Rattlers ringette champs

HHerald FILE photo The Lethbridge Rattlers U14C ringette team won the provincial championship on home ice in March in this file photo. The team was one of three teams to bring home provincial banners last year and something that LRA wants to build on this season on top of growing its numbers in some age divisions.

The Lethbridge Rattlers U14C ringette team were on cloud nine on Sunday as the team defeated Northwest Demolition (C-1) 6-3 to win the provincial banner on home ice at the ATB Centre.
“We’re just elated,” Leanne Murphy, head coach.
“Some of the girls had tears in their eyes and it kind of brought tears to my eyes. They played so hard and just had a great year and this was just the icing on the cake- it was just awesome.”
With the Rattlers being hosts, the games brought out a lot of fans,coaches from other teams, and players for support all weekend.
“It definitely just gives you that boost that you need,” she said.
Murphy said they definitely weren’t that team expected to just walk away with it.
“So it was off and on all year,” she said.
“We won some, we loss some. The team really came together and gelled towards this weekend. So the timing was right.”
There was a lot of work that went into being provincial hosts.
“Big credit to the organizers, who really did most of the work,” she said.
