Yegor Klavdiev scored his 21st goal of the season on the breakaway just 1:02 into overtime to lift the Lethbridge Hurricanes over the Moose Jaw Warriors 5-4 on Friday night at the Enmax Centre.
Joe Arntsen and Brayden Edwards has the assists on Klavdiev’s game winner.
The overtime winner was Klavdiev’s second of the night after he opened the scoring at 6:30 of the first period. Tyson Laventure and Jett Jones had the assists on the opening goal.
However, the Warriors tied it up with 1:10 to go in the first period on Majid Kaddoura’s sixth of the season.
The Warriors’ Ryder Korczak scored his 25th of the season just 21 seconds into the second to give the visitors a 2-1 lead.
Moose Jaw’s lead wouldn’t last long as Edwards tied the game at two at 9:39 with his eighth of the season.
The assists on Edwards’ marker went to Miguel Marques and Logan Wormald.
Edwards pulled Lethbridge ahead 3-2 with his ninth of the season with 2:48 to go in the middle frame, with the assists going to Laventure and Arntsen.
Moose Jaw’s Martin Rysavy scored his eighth of the season to tie the game 3-3 at 11:09 of the final frame.
The Warriors’ Cole Jordan scored his third of the season with 3:40 left in regulation to put Moose Jaw ahead 4-3.
Alex Thacker replied for the Hurricanes with 55 seconds to go in the contest and sent the game to overtime.
The game didn’t have any implications for the Hurricanes as they knew going into the game that they will begin the playoffs in Edmonton on April 21.
The Hurricanes were outshot 44-29 in the game.
Moose Jaw went 1-for-5 on the powerplay, while Lethbridge had a goal on two chances with the man advantage.
Lethbridge concludes the regular season on the road in Calgary on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.
