The Lethbridge Bulls roared all the way back from being down 6-0 to defeat the Medicine Hat Mavericks 9-6 on Thursday night at Spitz Stadium.
It was the Mavs that got the early lead in the second inning with three runs.
Medicine Hat’s Kristoff Swanson hit a two out single to score Nathaniel Ewing to open the scoring.
Deon Reese came up to bat next and hit a single to score Tory Nelson and advanced Swanson to second in the process.
The Mavs lead-off hitter Braden Desonia came up and hit a single to score Swanson from second and advance Reese to third and that is all Medicine Hat would get in the inning.
Fast forward to the fourth inning where Swanson found himself on base again and eventually advanced to third from second on a wild pitch, before Desonia hit a single to cash in Swanson in and Reese on an error by the shortstop.
Medicine Hat’s Kellan Williamson became the second out of the inning, but not before cashing in Desonia to make the game 6-0 Mavs.
It was the Bulls turn to shine in the bottom of the sixth as Noah Rodriguez hit a three-run home run to cut the Mavericks lead in half.
Lethbridge would cut into Medicine Hat’s lead more in the bottom of the seventh as Nick Gravel scored on an error by Medicine Hat’s catcher while Roger Riley would hit a single to score Brad Goodwin to cut the lead to 6-5.
The Bulls would complete the comeback in the bottom of the eighth as Gravel hit a sacrifice fly to score Rodriguez, Riley would hit a double later in the inning to score Goodwin and Tyler Vivier.
Carter Claerhout would wrap up the scoring for Lethbridge, as he hit a single to score Riley from second.
The Bulls record improved to 4-7 on the season with the win and now will begin a six-game road trip tonight in Sylvan Lake against the Gulls (7:05 p.m.).
