The Lethbridge Barracudas Junior B Tier 1 lacrosse team wrapped up the home portion of the 2022 season with an 8-6 loss to the Regina Queen City Kings on Sunday at Nicholas Sheran Arena.

The Cudas were down 8-1 going into the third period and the offensive output in the final frame allowed the coaching staff evaluate  the young players in the line-up for next year after  20-year-olds captain Jaxson Geddes and Mark Federkeil were traded to the Calgary Shamrocks prior to the trade deadline last week.

“There are some guys who I’m happy with in that room,” said head coach Darren Andre.

“We lost a lot of fire power at the deadline this year and we’re looking for guys to step into it and you know what there’s a few young guys in that room that’ve answered the bell and I’m really happy with. They need some time but there’s no doubt in my mind they’re going to get there. The future of our offence looks bright.”

Andre looked at the game as good opportunity as there were no 20-year-olds to bail them out.

“So the third period response was better,” he said.

“It came late, but it wasn’t throw our hands up in the air from everybody on that room. We have some young individuals that answered the bell properly.”

Adam Kennedy led the Cudas with two goals and an assist, while Jayden Schwindt, Jayden Richards, Roman Kish and Colby Lockard supplied a goal each in the loss.

Lethbridge lost to the Red Deer Rampage 7-4 on Saturday night.

The Cudas will finish up the season with a pair of road games beginning on Friday in Okotoks and the finale in Calgary against the Junior Mounties on Sunday.
