Kids baseball clinic emphasizes fun

Andrew Doyle and Rhett Feser were looking  for ways to incorporate young players into Canada Day festivities about a month ago at Spitz Stadium and came up with a kids clinic in conjunction with the Lethbridge Bulls.

The clinic was coached by Doyle, Feser and Feser’s father Dan and featured over 30 kids that participated in an array of drills centred around throwing, hitting, fielding and batting.

“I think the turnout was great and almost all  the kids seemed to have a lot of fun ,” said Rhett.

Rhett said the biggest focus was promoting baseball to kids at a younger age.

“A lot of them see it’s a lot of fun,” he said.

“They can have a lot of fun playing baseball.”

Feser said people do know about baseball around here and it’s a matter of getting them out to try it.

The Spitz Stadium scene was important part in hosting the clinic.

“It’s like Yankee Stadium to them right,” he said.

“They see the big grass. They have a lot of fun with that. It was important to have them out there,.”

The coaches wanted the kids to take away how they can better their skills moving forward.

Talks have already began for hosting another clinic in the future.
