The Brooks Bombers had their bats going on Friday night, as the visitors came away with 16-6 win over the Lethbridge Bulls at Spitz Stadium.
Brooks would waste no time getting on the scoreboard in the top of the first as Matt Wolff hit a one-out single to score the first run of the game.
Denver Blinn came up to the dish two batters later and hit into a 1,5,3— which means the ball hit Bulls pitcher Max Benton and ricocheted to third basemen Brandon Nicoll before he whipped it over to first for the out— and cashed in Jonah Weisner to make it 2-0.
Ryan Nagelbach hit a single to score Wolff and make it a 3-0 contest.
Lethbridge would get two of their own runs back in the bottom half of the first inning as Kalem Haney would a hit a double and later scored on a Nick Gravel single.
Carter Claerhout came up three batters later and cashed in Gravel with a single.
Lethbridge would take the lead in the bottom of the second with three runs as Haney got hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score Carlin Dick and tie the game. The Bulls would pull ahead as Roger Riley hit into fielder’s choice to score Krece Papierski.
Brooks pitcher Ashton Finkbeinker threw wild pitch while Brandon Nicoll was at bat and as a result scored Noah Rodriguez to make the game 5-3.
Brooks tie the game in the fourth as Weisner hit the ball past a diving Rodriguez to score Chris Akers and Wolff hit a sacrifice fly to score Mackie.
The Bombers would pull ahead as Blinn hit a two-out single to score Weisner.
Brooks would make the game 7-5 in the fifth as Akers hit a single to score Nick Parsons.
Brooks got their eighth run in the sixth inning as Haney juggled the ball at second base, allowing for Nagelbach to reach on an error and scoring Jimmy Costin.
Blinn would get the Bombers ninth run and Spencer Voisin roped a double to right to score Nagelbach.
The Bombers 11th run came on a baulk from Bulls pitcher Drew Lenahen and Weisner hit a single to Akers for the visitors 12th run of the game.
Lethbridge would cut Brooks’ lead in half in the bottom of the sixth as Riley hit a single to score Haney.
Costin added to the visitors lead in the top of the seventh as he scored on Voisin single to score the first of four runs in the seventh inning.
Akers would later hit a three-run home run to increase Brooks’ lead to 16-6.
Lethbridge has now lost six of their last eight games.
The two teams will meet for two games on Sunday and Monday in Brooks.
