The Lethbridge Bulls came back to beat the Regina Red Sox 6-5 on Thursday night at Spitz Stadium.
The Red Sox got on the board in the top of the first as Cade Nelson hit a one-out single to score Dylan Edmands, who had gotten on base earlier in the inning with a walk and advanced to third on a passed ball while Zane Zielinski was at the dish.
Zielinski hit a single to centre field in the second inning with two men on base and advanced to second on a Bulls’s centre fielder error, while scoring Max Lecroy.
The Bulls finally got on the board in the third inning as Krece Papierski scored on a Kalem Haney sacrifice fly to cut the Red Sox lead to 2-1.
Nick Gravel would hit a single to cash in Noah Rodriguez to tie the game at 2 heading into the fourth inning.
Regina would pull ahead in the top of the fourth inning as Edmands scored on a Bulls pitching error by Hunter Porter to make it 3-2 for the visitors
The Red Sox padded their lead to 5-2 in the fifth as Lecroy hit into a 4-3, which is when the second baseman throws to the first baseman for the second out, but not before Mike Kenney and Diego Aragon scored in the process.
The Bulls would make some noise in the eighth inning as Kalem Haney scored and Nick Gravel advanced to third on a wild pitch while Brandon Nicoll was at the plate.
Roger Riley came up and hit a single to score Gravel to make the game 5-4.
A Carlin Dick double would score Riley and Carter Claerhout to complete the comeback.
Both teams will be back at it to do battle tonight at 6:05 p.m. at Spitz Stadium.
