The Lethbridge Hurricanes traded goalie Jared Picklyk and overage forward Alex Thacker on Thursday.
Picklyk was shipped to the Tri-City Americans for 2024 sixth-round pick in the WHL Prospects Draft.
“Jared won us some big games down the stretch last season and was big in helping us make the playoffs,” said Hurricanes General Manager Peter Anholt. “He was a key member of our group for the three seasons. We wish Jared all the best moving forward.”
Picklyk was originally a seventh-round draft pick of the Canes in 2018.
The Canes are now down to Bryan Thomson and Harrison Meneghin in net.
Thacker was sent to the Victoria Royals later in the afternoon for a 2026 fourth-round draft pick.
“It’s a tough move to make, but with (Bryan) Thomson being activated from injury reserve we had to get down to three overagers,” said Anholt. “Thacker was a great Hurricane for a long, long time and produced at a very high level for us. We’d like to thank Alex for everything that he’s done as a Hurricane, and we wish him the best moving forward with Victoria.”
With the move, the Canes are now down to their maximum limit of three overagers of Thomson, Jett Jones and Cole Shepard.
