The Lethbridge Hurricanes returned with a loss and a win after visiting Swift Current and Edmonton over the weekend.
On Sunday in Edmonton the Canes scored the game’s first three goals then hung on to defeat the Oil Kings 4-2.
Tristan Zandee, Cole Shepard and Tristen Doyle gave the Hurricanes a 3-0 lead, before Rhett Melnyk and Gavin Hodnett scored third-period goals for the Oil Kings to make it a one-goal game.
Brayden Edwards scored into an empty net with three seconds left in regulation to ice the game for the Hurricanes, who were outshot 33-29.
In Swift Current the Hurricanes traded goals through Friday night’s match-up with the Broncos, but came short for a 4-3 loss.
The Broncos opened the back-and-forth scoring, with goals in reply from the Canes’ Tyson Zimmer, Cole Shepard and Tristen Doyle, before Swift Current’s Grayson Burzynski scored the game-winning goal 11:59 into the third period.
Hurricanes goaltender Harrison Meneghin faced 34 shots while Broncos goalie Reid Dyck saw 29.
The Hurricanes (21-14-0-1) start out a five game home stand hosting the Moose Jaw Warriors (22-13-0-0) Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at the Enmax Centre.
