Lethbridge’s Casey Scheidegger curling rink is off to a strong start at the Alberta Scotties Tournament of Hearts Provincial Championship for women’s curling in Wetaskiwin with a 5-1 record heading into Saturday.
Scheidegger started the tournament with an 8-5 win over Team Parent in Draw 1 in nine ends and Draw 2 saw a 9-3 win over Team Richards in six ends on Wednesday.
The team would carry that momentum in Thursday action with a 11-9 win over Team Stiksma( nine ends) in the morning, before conceding their first game of the tournament to the undefeated Team Skrlik rink (6-0) by a score of 9-3 in nine ends
Scheidegger would get back on track with a 6-4 win over Team Rocque on Friday morning in nine ends and beating Team Sturmay 7-2 in the afternoon in nine ends.
Her team will conclude round-robin play on Saturday morning against Team Hunkin at 10 a.m.
The semi-final will be played at 10 a.m. on Sunday and the championship game will follow at 2:30 p.m.
The winning team will represent Alberta at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in February in Kamloops.
