It was a David versus Goliath matchup between the No.1 ranked Seattle Thunderbirds and Lethbridge Hurricanes in Kent, Wash. on Friday night.
However, the Thunderbirds came out on top, 3-2 in overtime, as Reid Schafer scored his second of the game just 1:18 into the extra period.
It was the Hurricanes who got on the board first as Hayden Smith scored his fifth of the season from Trae Wilke at 7:01 of the first period.
Jared Davidson tied the game up for Seattle at 13:42 of the first period on the powerplay from Gracyn Sawchyn and Kevin Korchinski.
Cole Shepard gave the Canes 2-1 advantage at the 18:43 mark of the second period on the powerplay from Tyson Laventure and Logan McCutcheon.
The Thunderbirds came back to tie the game yet again in the third period, as Schafer scored his 18th of the season from Korchinski and Luke Prokop.
Seattle outshot Lethbridge 29-23.
The Hurricanes will finish off the road trip tonight in Portland (7p.m.)
