The Saskatoon Blades got the best of the Lethbridge Hurricanes in a 5-1 home win on Saturday night.
Charlie Wright scored his sixth of the season 6:20 into the first period on the powerplay to give the Blades an early 1-0 lead.
Jake Chiasson and Connor Roulette assisted on Wright’s marker.
Chiasson gave the Blades a 2-0 lead just 3:23 into the second with his 19th goal of the season from Jordan Keller and Roulette.
It was at the 9:49 mark of the second period that the Blades’ Jayden Wiens notched his 15th goal of the season on the powerplay to increase the Blades lead to 3-0.
Egor Sidorov and Brandon Lisowsky assisted the goal.
Sidorov found the back of the net for his 38th snipe of the season at 12:51 of the second from Trevor Wong and Spencer Shugrue to give Saskatoon a 4-0 lead.
Aidan De La Gorgendiere would make the game 5-0 Blades 4:39 into the third period from Blake Gustafson and Keller.
Tristen Doyle would break Blades goalie Ethan Chadwick’s shut out bid with the Hurricanes only goal of the contest at 18:56 of the third.
Nolan Bentham and Cole Shepard assisted on Doyle’s goal.
Saskatoon outshot Lethbridge 34-20 in the game.
The Blades went 2-for-6 and Lethbridge 0-for-3 on the powerplay.
Both teams won two games apiece in the season series.
The Hurricanes (32-22-3-3) will conclude the road trip against the Red Deer Rebels on Wednesday night.
