Rebels oust Hurricanes

The Red Deer Rebels picked up their 40th win of the year after edging the Lethbridge Hurricanes 2-1 at the Peavey Mart Centrium in Red Deer on Wednesday night.

The Rebels clinched the Central Division with the win.

The Rebels’ Kai Uchacz skated down close to the Hurricanes net and took a pass in stride, and backhanded in his 47th goal of the season from Ben King and Jace Isley at 13:31 of the first period to open the scoring.

The Rebels made the score 2-0 on a shorthanded goal by Jhett Larson from Jayden Grubbe at 14:04 of the second period.

Hurricanes defenceman Chase Pauls took a bounce off the end wall and scored with 17 seconds left in the game to cut the lead 2-1 .

Canes goalie Bryan Thomson kept his team in the game all night long after he saved 34-of-36 shots.

The Hurricanes fired 20 shots at Rebels goalie Chase Coward.

Lethbridge  (32-23-3-3)remains five points back of the Moose Jaw Warriors for fourth place in the Eastern Conference with seven games to go in the regular season.

The Hurricanes will be back on home ice to take on the Regina Pats on Friday night.

The Hurricanes were not “ousted”. They were defeated. Check the definition of ousted dude!
