The Lethbridge Synchrobelles Synchronized Swim Club is hosting a come try-it event for swimmers interested in artistic skills on Tuesday night.
Swimmers are encouraged from age five and up to come out.
“It’s a great way to try artistic swimming and see what our new AquaGo! program is all about,” said Sara Kindt, Synchrobelles coach that specializes in AquaGo! and Masters.
“Our AquaGo! program has levels to it and it’s a great way to introduce swimmers to aquatic literacy, and being comfortable in the water and learning different things. So, it’s a little bit of swim fundamentals, as well as artistic swimming skills, and some other athletic abilities that are important to all of those water sports and we have a great time.”
Swimmers can be of any ability level.
“Any skill really,” said Kindt.
“You can have somebody that’s a fish in the sea that really loves the water and we’ve had swimmers that are still a little bit timid or unsure of the water bit,” said Kindt.
“And we hope to develop their skills enough that they feel more confident in the water.”
Floatation devices will be provided for those swimmers that are unsure about being in the water on their own.
Kindt said this one has been a little slower, in terms of registration.
“So we have lots of spots available still,” said Kindt.
“Our winter and our fall sessions were a little busier. I think there’s just a lot of activities right now.”
Registration can be done at http://www.lethsynchro.ca.
The come try-it event is on Tuesday night from 6:15- 7:30 p.m. at the University of Lethbridge’s Max Bell Regional Aquatic Centre.
The Synchrobelles with host its water show on April 2 at 5 p.m. at U of L. Admission is free.
