The Lethbridge Bulls opened up a four game series with the Fort McMurray Giants by dropping the first game 8-2 on Thursday night at Spitz Stadium.
It was the Giants who wasted little time getting on the scoreboard on this night as they quickly got out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning.
Fort McMurray’s Kaleb Lemos hit a single to score Bryson Collins and advanced Jordan Bach to second.
It was two batters later that Joe Finder smacked a double to score Bach and Lemos.
Bach added to the Giants lead in the second inning as he hit a single, and allowing Max Stagg to advance to second and scoring Collins to make the score 4-0 for the visitors.
Stagg advanced to first on a fielder’s choice, before quickly finding himself on second, thanks to an error by the Bulls second basement and eventually ending up on third in the fourth inning.
Lucas Lefebvre, who led off the inning by getting hit by a pitch, scored on the same play to make the score 5-0 Giants.
Lethbridge got on the board in the bottom of the fourth when Teigan Parenteau ,with three runners on base ,was able drive in Carlin Dick for the home team’s first run of the game before being the first out of the inning for the Bulls.
A Finder single in the fifth inning cashed in Lemos to make the game 6-1 Giants.
Lemos and Jayden Shafer scored the Giants seventh and eighth runs respectively in the sixth inning.
Haney scored Cardel Dick on sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth to get the Bulls final run of the game and make the final Score 8-2.
The Giants had eight runs on 10 hits, while the Bulls mustard two runs on nine hits.
Both team are right back at it tonight at Spitz Stadium at 7:05 p.m.
