Lethbridge Miners stave off elimination at State championships

The Lethbridge Miners played to a decisive 8-2 victory against the Mission Valley Mariners to avoid elimination Thursday at the American Legion Montana State ‘A’ championships being held this week in Laurel, Montana.

On Wednesday the Miners lost to the host team Laurel Dodgers 9-6 in their opener of the double-elimination format tournament. 

The Lethbridge team faces the Glacier Twins this afternoon at 1 p.m. for a chance to advance to the semifinals on Saturday.

The winner of the state tournament goes on to the top-level regional championships in Havre next weekend.
