The Lethbridge Miners’ season came to an end as they fell 13-4 to the Glacier Twins on Friday afternoon at the American Legion Montana State ‘A’ championships being held this week in Laurel, Montana.
The Miners gained an early 4-0 start, with Ty Mabin hitting a three-run homerun in the top of the first inning before adding another RBI with a sacrifice fly in the 3rd inning.
However the bottom of the 4th inning saw key errors on defense help Glacier score eight runs, and then again in the 6th inning helping them add five more.
The Miners beat the Mission Valley Mariners 8-2 on Thursday after losing to the host Laurel Dodgers 9-6 on Wednesday in their opener of the double-elimination format tournament.
“Overall we had a very good season going 40-12 and we are proud of how this group of boys came together as a family and made it a special year for the American Legion Miners program,” said coach Nick Ankermann.
