The Val Matteoti Golden Hawks U15AAA hockey club were flying high in their weekend victory over Maple Leaf (MLAC) Scott Pump on Saturday.
Damen Vanderberg led the way with a hat trick and two assists while teammates Landon Ward, Kutcher Aquila, Devin Groenenboom, Lincoln Eaves, Maxton Okubo, Dawson Spence, Cohen Larson and Owen Demone each supplied a goal each in a 11-2 thumping of MLAC.
Chase Nielsen saved 22-of-24 shots in Lethbridge’s creases.
Lethbridge will next host the Calgary Bisons on Jan.27 at Nicholas Sheran arena at 1:30 p.m.
The Hawks moved to a record of 9-9-0-2-1 and sit in seventh place in the South Division.
U17AAA
The Headwater Hurricanes U17AAA were doubled up by the Airdrie Avalanche on Saturday at the Logan Boulet Arena.
Aiden Across The Mountain and Brent Coleman scored in the loss.
The Canes (5-15) sit last in the South Division.
Lethbridge’s Sunday home game was postponed.
The Hurricanes will host the Parkland Saints on Saturday at Logan Boulet Arena at 3 p.m.
U18AAA
The U18AAA Hurricanes dropped both of their home games by a combined 11-2 score over the weekend.
In Friday’s 4-1 loss to the Calgary Buffaloes, Dayton Tailfeathers scored the lone goal for the Canes.
Tailfeathers again scored the only goal for the Canes in Sunday’s 7-1 loss to the Calgary NWCAA Flames.
Lethbridge hosts the Calgary Royals at 7:15 p.m. on Friday at Nicolas Sheran Arena.
U13AA
The U13AA Hurricanes continued their winning ways as they outscored their opponents 24-6 over the weekend and improved their record to 23-1.
Lethbridge beat Taber 14-3 on Friday before going to Taber and winning 10-3 on Sunday.
The Canes will hit the road to Blackie on Friday to face the Foothills Bisons.
