Canes lose sixth consecutive road game

The Lethbridge Hurricanes dropped their sixth consecutive road game after a 4-1 defeat at the hands of the Swift Current Broncos on Wednesday night.

Connor Hvidston opened the scoring 10:45 into the first period on the powerplay from Connor Geekie and Mathew Ward.

The Canes tied the game up when Brayden Edwards found the back of the net for his 21st goal of the year on the powerplay at the 10:58 mark of the second.

Sean Tschigerl notched the assist on the goal.

Clarke Caswell pushed the Broncos ahead on the powerplay at the 7:33 mark of the third period to make it 2-1 for the home side.

Ward made the score 3-1 at the 14:52 of the third period from Peyton Kettles.

Owen Pickering capped off the night’s scoring with his fourth of the year at the 16:58 mark of the third from Geekie and Rylan Gould.

The loss concluded a road trip where the Canes went winless in four games 

Lethbridge went 1-for-5 while Swift Current went 2-for-6 on the powerplay.

Final shots were 34-22 for the Broncos.

The Canes host the Saskatoon Blades on Friday night.
