The Lethbridge Hurricanes got a massive road victory on Friday night, as they took down the number-one ranked Saskatoon Blades 4-1 at SaskTel Centre.
After a scoreless first period, it was the Blades that got on the board first when Easton Armstrong potted his 28th goal of the season from Trevor Wong and Alexander Suzdalev just 1:09 into the second period.
Brayden Edwards scored his first of back-to-back goals on the night with his 24th of the season 11:32 into the second period from Logan Wormald to tie the game 1-1.
Edwards found the back of the net again on the powerplay with 2:30 to go in the second period from Noah Chadwick and Miguel Marques.
Hayden Pakkala made it 3-1 for the Canes with his 11th goal of the campaign from Kash Andresen and Sean Tschigerl at the 8:02 mark of the final frame.
Marques sealed the win for the Canes with an empty net goal with four seconds to go in the game from Chadwick.
Brady Smith was stellar for the Canes on the night as he stopped 32-of-33 shots, while Austin Elliott stopped 17-of-20 in the Blade crease.
Lethbridge went 1-for-2 while the Blades went 0-for-2 on the powerplay.
The Canes((27-26-5-0) ) visit the Prince Albert Raiders (29-26-1-2) tonight with a 6 p.m. puck drop from the Art Hauser Centre.
