The Lethbridge Elks American Legion baseball team opened their season with a 1-2 record at the Vauxhall tournament over the May long weekend.
The tournament started with a loss for the Elks on Saturday, as they lost 7-6 Absolute Human Performance.
Bowen Weaver took the loss in the mound for the Elks after coming on in relief for River Hope.
The bright spots for Lethbridge was Lyle Steadman going 2-for-2 with a double and Ty Mabin hitting a two-run home run.
Lethbridge followed up the opening game loss with a 16-14 win over the Webber Academy Wildcats.
Fawkes Bruinsma got the win on the mound for the Elks.
Cooper Oriold-Climenhaga had a tremendous game with two hits and five RBIs, while Tristan Oriold-Marek, River Hope, Midnite Toker and Willis Takahashi all with had two hits.
The Red Deer Braves came out and beat the Elks 7-4 on Sunday.
Takahashi took the loss as the pitcher, while Steadman went 3-for-3 with a two- run home run and a double and Mabin had a two-run home run.
The Elks will hit the road for non-conference games in Cranbrook this weekend.
