The Lethbridge Bulls ended off their five-game road trip with a 3-2 record after sweeping the Edmonton Prospects in three games  over the weekend and have plenty to build on going into this week’s games.

The Bulls and Prospects played a double header on Saturday where Lethbridge won both games 14-4  and 12-6 respectively, while they ended the weekend with an 8-7 win on Sunday.

“(We) had really good at bats in all three of those games, you know,  working walks and stuff like that,” said Ryan MacDonald, Bulls head coach.

“The one thing I’ll say is we had a lot of two-out RBI hits and I don’t think we’ve had a lot of those this year.”

The Bulls will look to build off the three-game winning streak this week as they start a four-game week tonight in Okotoks.

“We’re building off (of) where we’ve won three in a row here and just kind of continuing to ride the wave,” he said.

“We’re missing some arms and stuff like that. So it’s been tough piecing it together.  I think we were talking about it today (Tuesday) with the pitching coach, (that) I think we’ve lost eight of our arms and five of them have been our starting pitchers. It’s been tough piecing it together so far at this point but I think we had another player fly in (on Monday), so we’re starting to get some more pieces to the puzzle here.”

The road trip ended a streak of 15 of their first 20 games on the road.

“Guys are starting to open up now and we know kind of what  every single guy brings to the plate (and the) pitching side of it as well.  Everyone’s  starting to settle into their roles,” said MacDonald.

Tuesday’s game at Spitz Stadium versus the Sylvan Lake Gulls was postponed due to rain and unplayable field conditions.

The Bulls  (11-9) are in Okotoks to face the Dawgs tonight and will be back at Spitz Stadium to begin a two-game set with the Prospects tomorrow.
