The Lethbridge Bulls prevailed in a 10-9 victory over the Fort McMurray Giants to complete the two-game sweep on Friday night at Spitz Stadium.
The Giants opened the scoring when a Bryce Nevils double scored Peyton McDowall to make the score 1-0 for Fort McMurray in the top of the first inning.
The Bulls tied the game in the bottom of the second when a two-out double by Kalem Haney scored Roberto Chaparro.
Lethbridge then added three runs in the bottom of the third inning.
A Mikey McGinnis walk with the bases loaded allowed Jack Kalisky to score.
Kyle Yip then hit a double to left field to score two more runs to make the score 4-1 Bulls.
Scott Hansen scored the Bulls fifth run of the game on a Carlin Dick sacrifice fly in the fourth inning.
Fort McMurray got two runs back in the fifth when McDowall hit a triple to score Jun Ho Sun and McDowall then would later score on a sacrifice fly by Nevils.
Haney scored from third base when there was a throwing error to first to make the score 6-3 for the Bulls in the sixth inning.
Nevils got the game to within a run when he a two-run home run in the seventh inning.
McGinnis scored on Haney’s fielder’s choice to make the score 7-5 for the Bulls.
The eighth inning didn’t lack offence from either team.
Nevils continued his solid night at the plate when he hit a double to score two runs and tie the game at sevens in the top of the eighth.
Mack Mitchell came up to the plate next and hit a single to score two more runs and give the Giants a 9-7 lead.
Lethbridge stormed back with three runs of their own in the bottom of the eighth.
Adonis Bernal scored on McGinnis ‘fielder’s choice, a Jake Lacey single scored Yip and Lacey scored later on a Tyler Monroe single.
Kalisky got the win for the Bulls on the mound.
The league will enjoy the All-Star Game in Okotoks today before play resumes Sunday.
The Bulls (29-15) play on the road at the Brooks Bombers on Sunday afternoon.
