The Lethbridge Jr. Bulls finished what was a strong Canadian Junior Little League Championship for them as hosts in third place after defeating Team Atlantic 12-9 on Wednesday at Spitz Stadium.
“It’s always nice to win the last game of the year and that was our goal.”
said Ethan Smith, Jr. Bulls head coach.
Smith thought the team played amazing.
“They (were) a completely different team than at the beginning (of) the year,” said Smith.
“These kids worked hard, they’re great kids and I’m just super proud of them.”
Smith felt he got contributions from throughout the line-up all week long.
“Everybody did their job, defence was good and pitching was really good,” said Smith.
When asked about what finishing third meant to the program, Smith said it’s good.
“It’s good just to show that Lethbridge is always a force in this tournament,” said Smith.
“We keep pumping out good baseball players.”
Steele Anderson thought the Bulls battled all week long.
“We came back (in) about three games and won them all,” said Anderson.
“So it was a great tournament overall.”
Anderson said it was a blast.
“I mean from the dorms to the field to the teams, everything was just a blast for us,” said Anderson.
Anderson will remember this CJLLC as a time where he had the most fun ever in the sport.
The B.C. representative beat Quebec 22-11 in the championship game and advance to the World Series in Taylor, Mich. which begins on Aug. 4.
