Noah Chadwick was named as the 32nd captain in Lethbridge Hurricanes history during training camp and is excited about the opportunity.
“Yeah really honoured, and excited and privileged to be named the captain, said Chadwick.
Chadwick takes over the captaincy from Joe Arntsen.
“I think I still learn from him and he showed me what it was like to be a leader and I think that definitely helps to have him as a guy to follow and learn from ,”said Chadwick.
Chadwick wants to make it known that he cares and trusts his teammates.
“It’s just (I) want to make that impression right away that you’re part of the team and you’re (a) part of this culture,” said Chadwick.
“We’re all (a) brotherhood and we all care about each other, and respect one another and trust one another.”
Chadwick, to a degree, imagined being the Hurricanes captain one day after beginning with the organization in the 2021-2022 season.
“I think we kind of had that conversation when I was just kind of signing with the Hurricanes,” said Chadwick.
“So for it to actually come to fruition now, it’s really exciting and kind of a dream come true.”
Canes assistant coach, Ryan Aasman, said no brainer, when asked about the team choosing Chadwick as captain.
“The way he’s acted since we first drafted him has always been really impressive,” said Aasman.
“He’s a really mature person, a complete pro on how he goes about his day and an exceptional person. I mean he’s going (to) take good care of our dressing room, he’s going to make players in our room feel cared for, he’s also going to challenge guys to be better and he’s going to lead by example.”
Chadwick was drafted in the sixth round by Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2023 NHL draft.
