U18AAA Canes open with split

The Lethbridge Hurricanes U18AAA team opened up their season with a split over the weekend on home ice.

Lethbridge opened with a 6-1 loss to Okotoks on Friday, with Damen Vanderberg getting the lone Canes goal on the powerplay in the contest.

The U18AAA’s rebounded with a 3-2 win over the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers on Saturday.

Kayson Christian, Elijah Fleck and Wesley Lizotte scored for Lethbridge in the win.

Lethbridge hits the road for a couple of games up north this weekend.

U15AAA

The Val Matteoti Golden Hawks were clipped in both of their games over the weekend.

Lethbridge was edged 2-1 by Calgary (NWCAA) Flames on Saturday and 5-4 by the Calgary Royals in overtime on Sunday.

Jake Gerstenbuhler scored for the Hawks on Saturday.

Liam Cowie scored two goals, while Delphin De Boer and Briggs Fabbro scored on Sunday.

The Golden Hawks host St. Albert on Saturday at 4:15 p.m. at Nicholas Sheran before playing on the road at the SEAC Tigers on Sunday.
