The annual Field of Screams Haunted House fundraiser  has taken over Spitz Stadium for the rest of this month to give guests a spooktacular experience.

People will experience anything from heart-jumping moments to  hidden corners that will be seen  and other Halloween props as they navigate through the dark tunnels.

“The route is bigger and better and scarier than  … last (year’s) ,” said Kevin Kvame, president and CEO of Under the Lights Sports and Entertainment group.

“It should be just  overall a better experience this year.”

Kvame said the goal has been to expand every year.

“You learn little bits each year you do it,” said Kvame.

“ Dave (Ankermann, Field of Screams designer) and his brother are out there collecting Halloween stuff and people are donating stuff  that they don’t need for their displays and that to the stadium.”

The fundraising component will see a majority of the  proceeds go into creating funds for the post-secondary students that are playing in the Prairie Baseball Academy and a couple of other local baseball organizations.

“The Field of Screams, (in) the last two years, has continued to escalate the number of scholarships they  can provide to those students at the annual Prairie Baseball Academy banquet,” said Kvame.

“Over and above that, we’re supporting the U of L  Pronghorns softball program and the Lethbridge Longhorns high school academy. It’s a great fundraiser as well.  I think it’s a fun one for the players too  because the Prairie Baseball Academy players get to be props as actors and characters in the Field of Screams.”

Last year’s Field of Screams raised $20,000 for scholarships and the other programs.

The Under the Lights Sports and Entertainment, Lethbridge Bulls and Prairie Baseball Academy-hosted Field of Screams runs from Oct. 17-31 at Spitz Stadium.
