Hurricanes suffer second straight road loss in Swift Current

The Lethbridge Hurricanes dropped their second consecutive road game after losing 4-1 to the Swift Current Broncos on Friday night.

Miguel Marques opened the scoring with his second goal of the year  just 5:24 into the game to give the Canes an early 1-0 lead in the first period.

Brayden Edwards and Will Sharpe picked up the assists on the goal.

The Broncos replied with two of their own goals in the second period to take a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes.

Dawson Gerwing scored at the 12:19 mark of the second period to tie the game at one from Josh McGregor and Adam Kral.

Swift Current pulled ahead with 1:46 to go in the period when Eric Johnston found the back of the net from Brady Birnie and Luke Mistelbacher.

The Broncos sealed the win with two more goals in the third period.

Carlin Dezainde scored his 10th of the season on the powerplay from Mistelbacher and Clarke Caswell 4:28 into the final frame.

Birnie made it 4-1 for Swift Current when he notched his sixth goal of the year from Connor Dale and Grayson Burzynski at the 8:41 of the third period.

The Broncos outshot the Canes 30-20.

Swift Current went 1-for-4 and Lethbridge went 0-for-2 on the powerplay

Lethbridge has now lost three of their first four road games of the season.

The Canes get right back at it when they host the Red Deer Rebels tonight at 6 p.m.
