The Lethbridge Hurricanes hit the 10-win mark on the season after a 7-3 victory against the Moose Jaw Warriors to open their three-game Eastern Division road trip on Friday night.
The water on the ice was barely dry when Hayden Pakkala opened the scoring 27 seconds into the game to give the Hurricanes a 1-0 lead with his second of the season from Noah Chadwick and Tristen Doyle.
Logan Wormald scored his 10th goal of the season with 2:21 to go in the first period to give the Canes a 2-0 lead.
Doyle assisted on Wormald’s marker.
Brayden Yager replied for the Warriors 8:50 into the second period with a powerplay goal from Kalem Parker and Lynden Lakovic to cut the Hurricanes lead to 2-1.
Moose Jaw tied the game almost four minutes later when Owen Berge scored his seventh of the season from Yager on the powerplay.
The Hurricanes wasted no time in the third period getting back on track as they scored three goals in the first 1:43.
Shane Smith scored just 20 seconds into the third period from Doyle and Kooper Gizowski,
Brayden Edwards added his eighth of the season 19 seconds later and Chadwick made it 5-2 from Smith and Gizowski.
Edwards scored his second from Doyle and Will Sharpe at the 7:54 mark of the third period to give the Canes a 6-2 lead.
Aiden Ziprick got the Warriors third goal of the night 10:54 into the third period from Connor Schmidt and Ethan Semeniuk.
Smith finished the scoring on the night with his 10th of the season from Sharpe and Gizowski on the powerplay almost 15 minutes into the third period.
Lethbridge outshot Moose Jaw 32-28.
Moose Jaw went 2-for-4 while Lethbridge went 1-or-3 with the man advantage.
Lethbridge (10-5-1) continues their three-game road trip Sunday in Regina at 1 p.m. and concludes it on Monday in Brandon at 1:30 p.m.
