The Lethbridge Hurricanes seem to be buying in as the team is now just over the quarter-mark of the season.

The Canes are currently sitting second in the Eastern Conference with a 12-5-1 record.

Assistant coach Ryan Aasman has seen a nice blend in the forward group that include game breakers, heavy players, playmakers, top four defencemen who he considers to be really good and goaltenders that are battling every night.

“I think what the team has built in the room reflects what we’ve done in the standings and I think that’s a really high tip of the hat to the guys that we have in the room,” said Aasman.

Aasman said it’s all kind of come together.

“I think it’s just been nothing more than a daily approach,” said Aasman.

“I think a lot of the details that we had last year (and) took us some time to get used to have comeback this year and guys are a little bit used to how we’re doing things again. We needed that full year to get used to that and now it’s about maintaining it.”

Miguel Marques feels in the room the belief is high.

“I think coming into the season, nobody had us where we are right now and (is) something within our group, within our staff and our players … that we wanted to do and we’ve excelled at that so far,” said Marques.

Brayden Edwards sees all the facets of the team’s game including the offence, defence and special teams have been good so far.

“In year’s past we’ve struggled with that and I think it’s starting to show this year, where our systems are a little better (and) guys are understanding it more,” said Edwards.
