The University of Lethbridge Pronghorns basketball teams split the back half of their home series with the Mount Royal University Cougars on Saturday.
The Horn men’s team suffered their first loss of the season after a 72-64 defeat to the Cougars to split both of their games with MRU after an 88-67 win on Friday night.
Angelo Mbituyimana drained 12 points to lead the Horns, while Jack-Henry Fox-Grey had 11 points and Kymani Pollard produced nine points in the loss.
As for the Horn women’s team, they dropped their second straight to Mount Royal after a 68-55 loss on Saturday.
Kyra Collier had 14 points and Piper Dobbelsteyn drained 12 points in the loss for the Horns.
The Horn women’s team now have a 3-3 record on the season.
Both U of L teams will end the first semester at the University of Manitoba on Friday and Saturday respectively.
Kodiaks
Both of the Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiak basketball teams had rough weekends up north at Keyano College and Lakeland College.
The Kodiak women opened with a 60-35 loss at Keyano on Friday.
Courtney Deemter had 10 points in the loss for the Kodiaks.
The Kodiak women then lost 78-52 to the Lakeland Rustlers on Saturday.
Deemter had 17 points in the second loss at Lakeland.
Lethbridge’s record is at 4-5 after the weekend.
The Kodiak men’s team lost 82-66 on Friday to Keyano.
Treydon Barton and Karson Valgardson each had 10 points for the Kodiaks in the loss.
Lethbridge was then shelled 97-78 by Lakeland on Saturday.
Coleson Lake had 15 points, Barton scored 12 points and Rhett Lewis added 10 in the loss.
The Kodiak men now have a .500 record of 4-4 after the weekend.
Both teams will wrap up the first halves of their seasons when they host Concordia University of Edmonton on Friday with the women’s game at 1 p.m. and the men’s game at 3 p.m.
