Golden Hawks split road games

The Val Matteotti Golden Hawks U15AAA hockey team split their road games over the weekend.

The Hawks began their weekend by being blanked 8-0 by Red Deer on Saturday before rebounding with a 3-2 overtime win over the Airdrie Xtreme on Sunday.

Briggs Fabro scored 3:10 into overtime to propel the Hawks to the win.

Lucas Comchi and Delphin De Boer scored for the Hawks in the second period to tie the game and help get the game past regulation.

Chase Nielsen saved 45-of-47 shots in the Hawks win and Steele Anderson saved 44-of-52 in Saturday’s loss.

U18AAA

The U18AAA Hurricanes dropped both of their weekend home games to the Red Deer Chiefs.

Lethbridge lost 3-0 to the Chiefs on Saturday before being doubled up by them 6-3 on Sunday.

Elijah Fleck scored two powerplay goals and Sawyer Aquila with a powerplay goal supplied the Canes offence on Sunday.

Calder Graham stopped 22-of-27 Chiefs shots on Sunday, while Brody Rotar stopped 29-of-32 on Saturday.
